happy July 4th RX , I am starting to see this more and more in the Chicago burbs especially where I live, multiple houses with 400k in cars in driveways , sometimes the quick valuation of the cars is close to value of house. Now my spidey senses believe these owners or tenants have some kind of tax advantage over my dumb ass. Maybe I should mind my own business, and move on, but I wonder if this is trending in other states.

Maybe they weren’t paying their mortgage for the past year?

maybe they live beyond their means?

maybe a few families live in that house (grandparents) (kids in their 20’s living with them and daddy bought them cars).

I have same shit in my neighborhood. Would rather see nice cars than pieces of shit

Leasing certainly makes expensive cars more affordable

Mostly new cars these days, lower and middle class income citizens generally spend much more than they should for auto transportation.
eg, I see people making $28,000 a year are driving cars with $475 a month payments.
And regulations prohibit the inexpensive "clunkers" that were driven decades ago by a large segment of our population, some were the person's family's 2nd car, or maybe even their primary.
Nice job by the auto industry lobbyists with an assist from our over-regulatory progressive regulators and laws.
I can afford a few nice machines, and yes, a 36 month lease is a good approach.

I've observed more cars in driveways too which makes sense but 400k in cars in a driveway? Umm, sounds like maybe you're living around some flush drug dealers. Can't say I've seen much of that.
